Binding and Loosing (Matthew 18:18)

Faith is the key… “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) We have to stay in the Word because it is the cornerstone of our faith. Our power source is faith in Jesus Christ and His Word. When we come to the knowledge and understanding of this we are ready to put Matthew 18:18 into practice, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” When we loose we release or invite the Holy Spirit to accomplish in us what the will of God is for our lives. Our willingness opens us up to God so that He can freely work as He sees fit in our lives, families or situations.

However, we must do Our Part. God does not do everything for us, we have to do our part. “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore CAST OFF the works of darkness, and LET US PUT ON the armour of light. LET US WALK HONESTLY, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But PUT YE ON the Lord Jesus Christ, and MAKE NOT PROVISION for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:12-14)

We must be truthful with ourselves! Wake up to what is going on, walk honestly, and put off the works of darkness. When we hold on to past or pet sins, they keep us bound. We must cast off those things that pull us down spiritually. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you and start changing them with the help of the Lord. We are to put on the armor of light and the Lord Jesus Christ, as we would put on our clothes. Make up your mind at the beginning of each day, not to fulfill the desires and lusts of the flesh. Ask God to help you walk in Holiness, so you will not sin against Him. For we can do nothing without God working in our lives. When we will to act, God is then released to pour His power into our life so we can overcome. Remember: “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
